💼 The Promotion That Broke Us

A story of ambition, silence, and the cost of emotional distance In the high-rise corridors of Gurugram’s Sector 44, where glass walls reflect ambition more than sunlight, Aarav and Meera were the kind of duo that made work feel like art. They weren’t lovers. Not officially. But their connection was undeniable—like two actors in a scene that never needed a script. Aarav, the strategist with a quiet fire. Meera, the creative lead with eyes that saw stories in spreadsheets. Together, they pitched campaigns that made clients pause, smile, and sign. Their bond was built on late-night edits, shared cab rides, and the kind of laughter that only comes when two people truly understand each other. In meetings, Aarav would glance at Meera before speaking. She’d nod—sometimes subtly, sometimes with a smirk—and he’d know he was on the right track. Then came the email. Subject: VP – Marketing Announcement Meera had been promoted. Aarav read it twice. Then again. The congratulatory messages ...

The Pitch That Wasn’t Planned

The elevator doors slid open on the 42nd floor. I had exactly ninety seconds to pitch an idea that had kept me awake for three nights straight. My palms were sweating, my voice rehearsed to the point of exhaustion. And standing beside me was the one person who could greenlight the entire campaign—or kill it with a shrug. I work in a firm where ideas are currency and silence is expensive. Every meeting feels like a courtroom. Every email, a negotiation. You learn to read between the lines, to decode the “Let’s circle back”s and the “Interesting take”s. You learn that ambition isn’t loud—it’s strategic. But this idea was different. I imagined a 30-second ad where a father teaches his daughter how to ride a bike. No voiceover. Just the sound of her laughter, the wobble of the wheels, the quiet pride in his eyes. And then the tagline: “B...

Woh Lafz Jo Kabhi Bole Hi Nahi Gaye

Image
Main woh hoon jise tumne kabhi dekha nahi. Shayad tumne mujhe notice bhi nahi kiya. Par main hamesha tumhare aas-paas tha — ek khamosh sa saathi, ek invisible sa raaz. Har subah jab tumne apna inbox khola, main ek unread mail ki tarah chhupa tha. Har shaam jab tumne apna coffee mug uthaya, main uss thandi silvatein mein tha. Main woh hoon jise tumne kabhi samjha nahi, par jiska har lafz tumhare liye tha. Mujhe bolna aata tha, par main chup raha. Kyunki mere lafzon ka wazan tumhare schedule se zyada tha. Tumhare meetings, tumhare deadlines, tumhare “let’s catch up soon” ke beech main kho gaya. Main har raat likhta tha — diary ke panne mere gavaah hain. Par woh diary kabhi publish nahi hui. Kyunki main chahta tha ki tum samjho… bina padhe, bina pooche. Tumne kabhi nahi jaana ki main kaun hoon. Shayad ek colleague, ek dost, ek ex… ya sirf ek khayal. Shayad main tum hoon — woh version jo kabhi jee nahi paaya. Ya main woh hoon jise tumne kabhi izzat nahi di, par jisne tumhe...
